Camerin Staffel
I am a former D3 lacrosse player who was the Varsity Head Lacrosse Coach for 12 seasons at Maine South High School. I received Illinois High School Coach of the Year in 2022. After the 2024 season, I stepped down to focus on my family and community. I am a Prospect Heights resident in the Hersey High School district (Wife is a Hersey Alum) and see the need for a feeder lacrosse program for girls and boys who will be attending Hersey High School. My wife and I are both high school special education teachers, with my wife teaching locally at Wheeling High School. Using my teaching and coaching experience along with connections within the lacrosse community, I am looking to provide a great experience for prospective lacrosse players in the area. Most importantly, I love lacrosse and would like to grow the sport I love so much within the Hersey community.
Goal:
We aim to build a strong community and culture around Hersey Lacrosse through a youth feeder program. Our goal is to help players develop their skills, improve athleticism, and have fun alongside friends from their local community.
The program emphasizes skill development and conceptual understanding through principle-based activities. By participating, players will not only become more skilled and knowledgeable about the game, but they'll also enjoy the experience even more.
More growth. More community connection. More fun!
Philosophy:
True skill comes from learning to move and adapt in many different ways — not just repeating the same motion over and over. Our goal is to help players develop long-term skill by exposing them to a wide variety of movements in game-like situations.
We use conceptual games and principle-based activities to create countless movement challenges. This helps players build "movement solutions" — the foundation of real, lasting skill.
Trust the process. Skill comes through variety, creativity, and play.
